Eastleigh Race Equality Forum
"To promote racial equality and harmony within the Borough of Eastleigh."
The Police set up the Race Equality Forum in May 2000, for the Black and Minority Ethnic Community of Eastleigh Borough. It is a consultation forum made up from local residents and supported by the Police and other agencies, including AHL. Its functions are:
- To be a safe and open forum for people to raise their fears and concerns;
- To promote racial harmony;
- To promote awareness of civil rights and responsibilities within all communities living in the Borough of Eastleigh;
- To feedback to all relevant agencies;
- To create a credible, viable and sustainable local B.M.E. community network.
The forum meets on a regular basis at the council’s offices on Leigh Road. For more information please contact CommunityDevelopment@eastleigh.gov.uk or telephone 023 8068 8196.
